Immigration, in America, has become an ever increasing problem to gain control of. Americans have become concerned as to whether it can help or hurt our economy. When I started to do research for this paper I was positive that there was nothing but harm to come out of immigration. There is no really clear substantial answer since immigration has its good points as well as its bad points.
Immigration can be a blessing in disguise for the economy of the United States. The immigrants that come over help keep inflation down by filling positions in all variety of industries. They are not necessarily taking jobs from the natives; they are just taking jobs that most Americans refuse to do. Without these jobs being filled supply would dwindle down and prices would have to rise in order to compensate. According to Salt Lake City mayor Rocky Anderson, ?the unemployment rate in Salt Lake City has stayed virtually the same, regardless of the amount of immigrants? (ABCNews, 2003). The only problem that I see about this is that the migrant workers will work for fewer wages than natives. This is seen mainly in agricultural occupations
