GUN CONTROL

GUN CONTROL

Is Gun Control Good

The second amendment of the United States Bill of Rights says, ?A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.? (Bill of Rights) Lately it seems every politician and their mothers have made arguments that gun control is a necessary thing. Gun control is a touchy issue with most Americans, either you are for it or against it, there doesn?t seem to be any middle ground. Groups like the national rifle association (NRA) are fighting for our right to bear arms everyday while many political figures and conservatives are opposed to guns. Lets look at both sides of the issue and see which side of the issue you are on.
It could be argued that the second amendment is obsolete now, where as when the constitution was written this amendment made more since. People of all caliber?s carried guns 200 years ago, from the lowly bartender to the president. That much is true, but do?s that mean that a guy wanting to protect his family in this day and age shouldn?t be able to use a gun to do it.

Cinema in Cuba

The film industry changed dramatically after the revolution. Before Batista?s dictatorship was overthrown, Cuban cinema faced many difficulties. The United States had a very strong influence on the films being made, as many of the movies were actually filmed in the in the U.S.. Many Cubans found the movies being made as another country?s perspective of Cuba, and came to resent the false portrayals. The U.S. and Mexico mostly controlled everything from production to distribution of the films. Despite this, movies were still extremely popular for the Cubans that had access to them. However, those who live in rural areas did not have the option of seeing movies. The true boom for Cuban film occurred when the revolution was over and Castro had overthrown the Batista dictatorship. Three months after this occurred, the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry, also known as the ICAIC, was founded. This institute was vital for the movie industry in Cuba. Cas!

Dancing With Death

Dancing With Death

John went to a rave party to escape his problems. He dreamt of dancing through the night like others, moving as fast as possible, never stopping, but he found it was impossible. His body would simply not hold up. Then a guy came up to him and said, ?Swallow an ecstasy pill and you will see!? He took the pill and put it in his mouth. Moments later the drug stated to act. He danced, danced and danced, pushing himself well beyond his usual limits. John just wants to have fun, but things didn?t turn out the way he wanted. A tragedy had occurred on May 4, 2000.
John was really wild and outgoing. He always went out to dance when he was depressed. John loved to go to late night parties and clubs. One Saturday night, John wanted to get away from her family and all of his school problems. John and I decided to go to dance. We went to the club called Liquid Room, also called Rave. Gun policy

In the U.S society, gun control has always been an issue. A lot of people still do not realize how dangerous it is to have guns and how guns give a negative impact in our society. Based on studies, gun uses increase the total rate of homicide, suicide, crime, and firearm injuries (?Pennsylvanians against Handgun Violence? 1-2). I believe most American people have heard at least a few gun related crimes from the media such as shooting in high schools and a sniper killer. People should realize these kinds of tragedies could happen at anytime and anywhere if we do not devise methods to reduce gun violence. We cannot leave the matter unsettled or the situation will become so aggravated that it can no longer be ignored. It is time to face those problems to make safer living environment for everyone. There are possible ways to attempt to regulate gun control such as developing anti-gun right organizations that have power to fight against NRA, and finding ways for legislature to re-establish strict gun laws and penalties. If these solutions appeal to many citizens, it will reduce great number of innocent victim in our society. Therefore the propose the

Orson Welles

Final Exam
Throughout the year we have studied numerous films and their creators. All of the films that we have observed have their reasons for being memorable, yet one film in particular seems to stand out more than the rest. The reason why this certain film stands out is because of its director and his innovations in filmmaking. The film is Citizen Kane and the director that is so highly recognized is Orson Welles. Many directors have used certain techniques and camera work used by Welles in Citizen Kane since then. One movie, that was in theatres over the summer, which uses some of the same techniques popularized by Welles in Citizen Kane, is Big Fish. Big Fish was directed by Tim Burton and was a big box office hit. To the untrained eye these two movies may seem like they have nothing in common, yet after realizing the techniques used by Welles, they seem more similar than one may think.
The film Citizen Kane is one of which that we have viewed in class and the plot of the movie is well known. Yet, Big Fish is a motion picture that may not have been viewed by all. The movie jumps

Venezuela Health

Venezuela Health

The country of Venezuela is located in northern South America. Because of its tropical climate, there is an increased risk of acquiring a disease because the weather allows for year round growth. In spite of this the required immunizations are almost identical to the ones required to attend school in the United States.

Recently there has been an outbreak of dengue fever. A flu-like illness spread by the Aedes mosquito. The usual mosquito prevention is used to avoid contracting the virus. Such as bug spray and DDT laced mosquito netting for use around bedding. It is also recommend that people avoid areas that are known to be infected with the disease, because the mosquitoes that spread dengue fever only bite humans during the day. There is no vaccine for it at this time. There has also been a measles outbreak of more than 8,000 people since September of 2001. This is probably due to the fact that most of the children have never received the vaccine. It was found in the residences of Venezuela and not in visitors. Last year there was

Federalist 51

Federalist 51

The Separation of Powers: Controlling the Threat of Factions
In The Federalist 51, Madison sets out to explain the necessity of the constitutional setup of the government in preserving liberty. Since Madison is most concerned with the development of a faction, whether in government or among the people, which would threaten the liberty on which the United States is based, he advocates a system which would hopefully eliminate that threat. Madison finds that a government can only be safely powerful if the power is divided up enough that any one part does not have the ability to expand. This separation of powers must be true among the different sections of the government, as well as among the people. Liberty must be preserved and Madison finds that the setup of the government and the delegation of powers is the only way to achieve it.
Federalist 51 clearly states that men are not ?angels? who would be capable of governing themselves without an official centralized government and that it is the imperfection of human nature that necessitate government. On the other hand, giving power to any specified group creates the possibility that that power will be abused.

Media And Entertainment Play A Large Role In The Daily Lives

Media And Entertainment Play A Large Role In The Daily Lives Of Americans

Entertainment and media usage has become an isolating experience in today?s modern families. According to Leonard Pitts? editorial ?Making Memories in the Media Age,? media and entertainment play a large role in the daily lives of American children.
The fact that entertainment has become an isolating experience is true among many families in the United States. Everyday, children spend hours in their rooms alone listening to the radio, watching television, playing video games and talking to friends online through their computers. All of the hours spent isolated from reality are taking away from the quality time that should be spent with the whole family. A survey released by the Kaiser Family Foundation shows that a vast majority of kids watch television without their parents. One point of having electronic media in homes was to bring families together, but it seems that it has contributed more to parent-child division rather than parent-child bonding.
The popularity of video game entertainment seems to be growing these past few years. Many children sit glued in front of the television playing these games for hours without taking breaks. Video games are not only taking time away from being with family, but also other things like school

Vehicles Are The Problem, Bicycles Is The Answer.

Vehicles Are The Problem, Bicycles Is The Answer.

Vehicles are the problem, bicycles is the answer.
Gas prices today are outrageous. It?s sad when someone spends twenty dollars just to fill their gas tank three-fourths full. It seems that gas prices are either rising or dropping but never staying stable. The answer to the problem Purchase a bicycle. A bicycle is ninety-five percent cheaper than a vehicle.
There?s probably no way we can drop gas prices anyway. We?re going to have to accept the fact that more than half of our paychecks goes to vehicles. How messed up is that Twenty to fifty dollars goes to gas a week, not to mention the insurance a month we pay. If you have to have new brakes, that?s another hundred and twenty-five dollars

Declaration Of Independence

Declaration Of Independence:

Declaration of Independence:
Before and After

Although there were many changes to the Declaration of Independence after it was originally written, I believe that a few of the changes stand out more than others. Those changes, which I have chosen, I will voice my opinions on whether or not it should have been changed.
The first change that I would like to discuss is paragraph nine of the declaration of independence where a large portion what was written there was added to the rough draft. The part that was added in was, ? He has called together legislative bodies at a place unusually uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their public records for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measure.? I believe that if I were the review board I would have added this in. I would have put in this piece because I feel it emphasizes how the king tried managed to get his way with the colonies. He did this by giving the representatives of the colonies an uncomfortable spot to meet and discuss the issues that the King would get his way on. I believe that they, Great Britain, should know what they have
