Workforce

Workforce

For most of the 20th century, it was widespread for many individuals to be employed by a corporation and continue with them for their entire lives. ?It was not uncommon for people to start work with a company in the mailroom or as a courier at the age of 15, or even younger, and to retire at age 65 with 50 years or more of service?. Many of them were known as ?womb to tomb? employers (Carlson 42). Popular with modern beliefs, many employees would be hired by a corporation, perform to their greatest potential, and secure a job for life.
To effectively manage any department within a company, one was to have knowledge in every aspect of their sector. ?Employees [were] expected to work their way up through the ranks, starting at entry-level positions and gaining more experience as they were promoted to positions of greater responsibility? (Carlson 42). It was essential for an employee to understand all aspects

Citizen Kane The Projection Room Sequence

Citizen Kane: The Projection Room Sequence

Citizen Kane Scene Analysis
The Projection Room

Low Key Lighting
Shot: In the final shot of the newsreel with Kane living in Xanadu we end up with a full screen shot of Kane as a very old man. The image of Kane remains on the screen and as the camera backs up the scene slowly changes into the dark projection room. The camera points at the editors of Rawlston Magazines, but their faces are never really seen. The room is very dark, and there is only a small light being emitted from a piece on the table and the back wall. The light is one hundred percent decisive in choosing who we get to see. The path of the light is random and constantly changing. As some time passes a silhouette is placed on the screen and the editors faces and bodies are transferred onto the screen against the slanting beams of light. The silhouetted figures give a rich dramatic mood.

Effects/Significance: Just as the audience is trying to pick out the faces of the editors in this scene, the editors are too struggling with something. Kanes death is something that they can definitely capitalize

Ecstasy

Ecstasy, illegal in almost every country around the world has been found to still be one of the biggest markets in the illegal drug industry. Ecstasy has a short history and is first found being used medically, until being using as an illegal drug. Ecstasy produces effects that are unique to the drug and also causes various side effects in the body. Over the years United States federal agencies have been trying to work on removing the ecstasy population. Controlling the flow of ecstasy requires an educated public and a well-trained federal agent.

History of Ecstasy

The word ecstasy is derived from the Greek language and defined as state of exaltation in which the self is transcended. The word covers a range of phenomena from mysticism to spirit possession. Ecstasy was first discovered by Merck pharmaceuticals in 1912. Ecstasy is MDMA, or 3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine. It belongs to a family of drugs called “entactogens,” which literally means “touching within.” Other drugs in this category include MDA, MDE and MBDB. Rebel Without A Cause

Rebel Without A Cause

Jim?s Confused Family
The film Rebel Without a Cause teaches the importance of the relationship between parents and their children. The relationship between Jim Stark (James Dean) and his parents helps the viewers understand why he has so many problems. Jim tries to find a father figure in his father, but his overbearing mother always takes control of his father. Jim wants to see his father stand up for himself. Rebel Without a Cause exemplifies the incompetence of Jim?s parents to act as responsible adults, and their unwillingness to help their child become an adult.
In the police station at the beginning, Jim?s parents argue, and he interrupts them by exclaiming, ?You?re tearing me apart! You say one thing, he says another, and everybody changes back again.? This causes Jim to release the anger and frustration that he holds inside of him. His father states what he really feels, but his mother forces him to side with her. Love and affection are not the only things that Jim need, but also guidance. Jim blames his parents for the misery in his family.
Jim takes control of the arguments he has between his parents. While Jim was

Peta

Peace and Justice
PETA, or People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals is an international nonprofit organization based in Norfolk, Virginia. Founded in 1980, this organization operates under the belief that ?animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, or use for entertainment. PETA educates policymakers and the public about animal abuse and promotes an understanding of the right of all animals to be treated with respect?(site). PETA believes strongly that ?animals deserve certain kinds of consideration?consideration of what is in their own best interests regardless of whether they are cute, useful to humans, or an endangered species and regardless of whether any human cares about them at all?(site). The organization recognizes that animals do not belong to humans and should not be used for food, clothing, entertainment, or experimentation.
PETA cofounder Alex Pacheco, was the first to expose the abuse of animals in experiments in 1981. These investigations led to the widely publicized Silver Springs monkeys case. The result was the first ever arrest and conviction in the United States of an animal experimenter on charges of animal cruelty. This particular case also resulted in the first confiscation of abused animals used in laboratories

Communication Disorders

Communication Disorders

Communication Disorders
Communication Disorders encompass a wide range of impairments, mainly dealing with ?receiving, understanding, and expressing information, feelings, and ideas? (Turnbull 400). Normally, people possessing one or more of these disorders have problems with language, speech, or hearing (Kid 1). With new developments in education and methods of therapy, many of these disorders can be improved. Two of the three major types of communication disorders will be discussed within this paper. These include the areas of language and speech.
Exceptional Lives defines a speech disorder as ?the difficulty to produce sounds as well as disorders of voice or fluency of speech.? An individual with speech problems may have trouble following directions, speaking at a normal pace, and exhibiting correct syntax and articulation (Kid 1). The typical human is able to learn to speak with no problem, and the progression is somewhat miraculous. While people are unable to document or study the norms of speech development, the abnormalities can and have been thoroughly studied. Some speech impairments include articulation (a speaker?s production of individual or sequenced sounds), voice disorders, and fluency disorders (Turnbull 404-5). Citizen Kane: An Accurate Portrayal of William Randolph Hearst

Many have called Citizen Kane the greatest cinematic achievement of all
time. It is indeed a true masterpiece of acting, screen writing, and
directing. Orson Welles, its young genius director, lead actor, and a
co-writer, used the best talents and techniques of the day (Bordwell 103)
to tell the story of a newspaper giant, Charles Kane, through the eyes of
the people who loved and hated him. However, when it came out, it was
scorned by Hollywood and viewed only in the private theaters of RKO, the
producer. Nominated for

?Coffee, black, no cream!? I have had a lady say this phrase. She was a very rude lady because when I arrived at her table she yelled it at me. Serving can be a stressful job and it can be a rewarding job as well. It can be a boring job sometimes. I think it is a great job for when you are going through school, the hours are meager yet the money is plentiful. The best part about serving in my opinion is all the people I get to meet. It opens ones mind to so many different aspects of life. One would never think that some people could do the things that they do. I think you can classify people into five groups. Some people may fit into more than one group and some only in one. There are nice people, picky people, cheap people, old people and Bad Tippers.
Nice people are probably the least stressful to serve. They understand that the server is doing the best they can at any given moment. They are the when-ever-you-get-a-chaners. Some nice people are Bad Tippers.

Woman Administration

Woman Administration

The leaders of today come in all shapes and sizes. Gone is the image of a middle-aged white male behind a desk, directing his followers in an authoritarian manner. We have come to realize that leaders are distinct in regards to age, gender, race, ethnic origin, physical abilities, religious belief, sexual orientation, and other perceived differences. Diversity means understanding and valuing the differences in each other. Leadership for the 21st Century requires us to appreciate all aspects of diversity since we are truly becoming a global community. To achieve diversity one must have increased awareness, education, and the ability to evaluate old and new information. Increased awareness is to remember that bias and assumptions are normal. Education is the process of learning about people who are different; learn with an open mind. We evaluate old and new information and decide which views to let go, and which ones to keep.
The Promotable Woman (the new leader of the 90s) acts out her own convictions rather than merely reacting to people and situations. She focuses on living up to her own expectations, not other people??¦s expectations for her. She doesn??¦t need to acquiesce passively to others??¦ demands nor automatically rebel against them.

Reality Tv

Reality Tv

When it comes to reality based television shows, the only thing I want to know is where they get the word ?Reality?. The reason is that we only see what they want us to see, so we are not really seeing the big picture. (Dan Johnson) There is some controversy over reality based television shows. One thing that they are able to do is give you a chance to see how ordinary people in certain situations. The producer is the one who creates the situation, but how they react is the real thing. (Richard Heldenfels 563-569) When you watch reality television you are seeing a group of people get along in a restricted environment. Throughout the serious anything could happen that will make you want to see the next show. Many of these shows share speed and excitement as much as it is interested in the relationships among characters. It is easier for people to know what is going on compared to soaps. That is a reason more people watch it because of this.
(Paul Jackson 35-40) When we watch reality television we only care how it looks.
